Can We Still Believe in Eternal Punishment? (54 min)

David Gilliland takes up a defense of the Biblical doctrine of eternal punishment. Because of the practices, philosophies, and the pluralism of modern society, belief in and proclamation of the truth of eternal punishment is weakening in many forums. It is currently denied by 4 main errors: by modernism, by postmortem evangelism, by universalism, and by annihilationism (conditional immortality). Mr Gilliland expounds the character of hell and defends it against charges that it is 1. inconsistent with the love of God, 2. with God’s justice, and 3. with God’s omnipotence. He quotes J.C. Ryle saying “It is not possible to say too much about Christ, but it is quite possible to say too little about hell.” This solemn and helpful message was given on 24th Feb 1996 in Ballymena. Readings: Rom 8:32, 8:38-9:3.
