Albert Joyce – “Come unto Me or Depart from Me” (14 min)

This recording, made in 1956 at a Bible Conference gospel meeting in Vancouver, Canada, features the voice of the late esteemed evangelist Albert Joyce (1897-1982). Mr Joyce was saved in May 1905, in Portobello, near Edinburgh, Scotland. Troubled about his soul, he looked at numerous gospel verses but wondered how he could get saved. “I knew all these verses, and I always believed they were true. How could I believe any differently?” Turning to Isaiah 53:5 and 6 he said, “Losing sight of my believing and my fears, I saw that Jesus was wounded for me. God’s Word was enough. God was satisfied, and I rested there.” He lived 70 more years to prove the reality of his conversion. Albert Joyce was commended to full time service on March 22, 1921 by the assembly meeting in the East End Gospel Hall in Toronto. He laboured in the gospel for many decades and saw hundreds of souls saved and a lasting work done for eternity. Mr Joyce had a deep exercise for the building up of God’s people in the truth of God, so he, along with Mr. Fred Watson, Mr. Gordon Johnston and Mr. Hector Alves, founded the Truth and Tidings magazine, with Mr Joyce becoming its founding editor. In this recording, the eloquent Mr Joyce preaches powerfully on the two expressions from Matthew’s gospel: “Come unto Me” (11:28) and “Depart from Me” (25:41).
